Well Michael and I officially feel like students again as we come to the end of decluttering and selling off all the things we`ve worked so hard to accumulate in the last three years. Boy-did we have alot of junk. I feel like I have been on an never ending episode of one of those decluttering reality shows. Everything in the apartment has been given the same amount of attn as to whether it should be saved, shipped or stored, from the heirloom dining room tablecloth that never gets used to that big box of paperclips that we thought would be so useful to have in our office but has not been touched in 3 years. As always your time is not spent as wisely as it should. I have been spending too much time buying and selling things on craiglist, researching the endless ins and outs of umbrella strollers (and failing to just bite the bullet and buy one), and harrassing Michael about the endless list of things that need to get done. Michael is spending far too much time playing with his new Mac and fretting over Callum`s mealtimes as I`ve progressed him into very big chunky foods and this scares Michael silly. I imagine as the next two weeks draws to a close, alot of things will get dropped of the to-do list, including posting here. But we`ll resume when we get over to the other side. I personally am interested to see how Callum and I fare with our upcoming travel. I`ve been doing my own research and buying little gidgets and gadgets that probably aren`t worth the money but I am desperately hoping will make our travels go smoother. Callum with be on and off something like 10 planes in two months – so we are definately about to learn from experience. Anyways that is it for now – will keep you posted. Back to decluttering I go.
NHL Trade Deadline
27 02 2007Well the 2006/07 NHL trading deadline is about 15 minutes from closing and the biggest deal is seeing Todd Bertuzzi going to Detroit. Florida sure got the shaft on this one. First they trade the (arguably) best goalie in the league to get Bertuzzi. He plays 7 games before going in for back surgery and hasn’t played since. Then Florida trades him for conditional picks.
Nevertheless, I am preying to the hockey gods for a Vancouver v. Detroit playoff match. That would be incredible in that the Vancouver crowd would know exactly what it would take to get under Bertuzzi’s skin. And for the hockey lovers out there, we all know what happens with a frustrated Bertuzzi – penalties followed with a close up shot of Bertuzzi as he skates toward the sin bin. One doesn’t have to be a lip reader to comprehend his choice of vocabulary under those situations.
This just figures though. I will be leaving Vancouver right during the first or second round of the playoffs and I seriously doubt that I’ll be able to find somewhere in Malta to watch hockey (especially since the games will be happening in the middle of the night). With my luck, and with my known history of cheering for consistently bad teams, this will probably be the year the Canucks win the cup.
Speaking of Canucks. I’m quite happy with the moves they made. Nothing major and nothing the jeopardizes the so-called team chemistry. Sopel, while not the most gifted of defensemen, is someone who obviously wants to play in Vancouver. Meanwhile, Smolinsky should fit in with Naslund (however, that line still needs a credible rightwinger – Bulis is not that guy).

Snowshoeing
18 02 2007Well, I guess that it’s about time I actually start “blogging”. I still haven’t learnt all of the ins and outs of wordpress but I’m sure as time goes by, this blog will look a bit more interesting.
Anyway, today we decided to throw caution to the wind and go snowshoeing up at Cypress Mountain. It was Callum’s first trip into the mountains and first hike. We packed him up in baby backpack hiking thingy and enjoyed a quick walk in the snow.
