On the Go

17 03 2007

Well, after we leave on Monday we have about a week and a half to get settled before I begin work again. We will be spending one week staying at quaint old village on the west side of the Isle of Lewis in a house that used to be in our family (my great grandparents I believe). The house is now a holiday let and as a 60th birthday gift for my mum, a big bunch of us in Canada rented it for a week for her so she can relive some fond childhood memories…take a look if you are interested…

Can’t wait to go walking …. !

Hi Joanne and Michael and Callum,
Just had a look at the lovely house. It is gorgeous and the countryside is sublime. It looks sooooooooooooo peaceful and laid back. One of the things you mentioned you wouldn’t miss about Vancouver is the rush of it all…..the place you are going to looks so delightfully the opposite.
Thank you for the lovely card and your words, which mean alot. And thank you for the blog address….we will love keeping up to date with your travels.

Hi There Micheal,
I just stumbled onto your blog via Dina of Malta Daily Photo. What a wonderful adventure for you and your family. My husband and I dream of moving out that way when we retire. We live in Maple Ridge, so feel free to pop by my blogs for photos of this area if you get homesick, but I doubt that you will!
Good luck!

Dear Joanne,

Hope you are getting settled into life on the Isle of Lewis with Callum and Michael. Callum is so cute – I can’t stand it! Wish that I could hold him and rock him to sleep! Guess I have to head to the Hebrides if I want to do that.

I think that he needs an Edmonton Oilers jersey!

Time goes by so quickly. Here we sit with wedding photos that we took at your wedding – the best laid plans – never sent them to anyone….maybe someday I’ll get things organized.

Loved the pictures of the cottages and it brought back fond memories of staying with your Gramma. I think that Rick and I stayed with your Gramma for about a week. Joanne, I had never been so cold in my whole life and I’m from Alberta for crying out loud!

Ian and Jean had just moved back to the island and Kathleen was just starting school so it was the late 1970’s. Makes me feel old. So many people gone now – Hector and Donald amongst them.

Wish you well and hope that I am not making this entry too long.

Relatively speaking, Kathy is not too far from where you are now. Kathy and Kevin are in Stavanger Norway until sometime fall 2007 – you better try to get them over there for a visit and see where her great-grandparents were born!

If my comments exceeds the limit – just delete it – I won’t be offended. Please send me your email address when you have a minute.

Kind regards and love from a distant cousin,

Marion
